When your best friends are getting married of course you want to take their engagement portraits right? Nicki and I knew right away where we wanted to go and we could not think of a more perfect place, the desert, Joshua Tree national park. It has been on our bucket list and this was a great excuse to grab our men and make the trip down. First, we booked a cute airbnb (thejoshuatreehouse), hit the road for 11 hours from Northern California down the Southern California, grabbed a locally made bouquet (thebloominggypsy), slapped some fun tono + co ribbon on the bouquet, almost teared up with the beauty of our cute little place we were calling home for the next few nights, put on a Frank Sinatra vinyl, let them cozy up in an adorable hammock room (yes that is real thing at this casa), then took them out to the desert land for some magical lighting + witness an unbelievable connection between the two lovebirds. Voila, we created a gorgeous desert/cacti engagement session that turned into an unforgettable weekend adventure together. We may have come across some bumps in the road which lead us to conclude that Joshua Tree won, with a flat tire to the destination, major cacti pricks (darn you cholla cactus garden!), a foot getting run over with the car (whoops) and some other little mishaps. But it all made for some great stories and an amazing time. This session has had me googly-eyed from the start and was filled with endless laughter, sunlight and excitement. I felt so incredibly honored to have taken these portraits for Nicki and Andy and I just adored having them in front of the camera. They are going to be the most beautiful bride+groom ever! Love you both to the moon and I cannot wait for your special day.
